Shawn Powers
I am the owner/director of Heavenly Christian Academy. I started working with children when I was around 12-13 years old. My father was a pastor and I was honored to be able to assist with children’s church and the nursery.
Some of my accomplishments include: obtaining my degree (with Honors) in Early Childhood Education, working in private and Christian child care centers, owning my own licensed in-home child care, and working for Contra Costa County HeadStart (for 12+ years), starting off as a teacher and working my way up to Site Supervisor II. I feel the greatest time of my learning/growing was while raising my two children (that are now grown).
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my wonderful husband and our grandchildren. I also like watching home renovation shows.
Shavon Cunningham
I am the Assistant Director/Lead Teacher at Heavenly Christian Academy. I was introduced to the Early Childhood Field at an early age when my mother decided to open a family daycare in our home. Although, I did not know it then, it is something that has become a passion and HUGE part of my life. I have been active in this field for 13 years working in different positions. Shortly after high school, I began my career as a Teacher’s Assistant Trainee for Contra Costa County, and with hard work and determination I became an Assistant Director at a private owned daycare in Lafayette.
I believe that children develop an interest in learning at an early age, and it brings me joy to be a part of facilitating that. Early Childhood has helped me become the wife and mother that I am to my husband, John, and our two children, Jordyn and Jaxon. They are my reasons why. Outside of work, I enjoy listening to music or playing the piano, spending time with family, and hanging out with my mom.
Jasmin Del Cueto Guerra
My name is Jasmin Del Cueto Guerra, but I go by Jazzy. I am a Teacher Assistant at Heavenly Christian Academy and a student at Los Medanos Community College. I am currently part of the volleyball team. and taking classes to become a firefighter. My outgoing and fun personality has led me to become a ministry leader for young women at The Bay Church. I work with younger children as a volunteer there as well. In my free time, I Enjoying spending time with animals.
